Hi, my name is Max. I’m a 24-year-old young professional living at the edge of Hyde Park in North-Central Austin. I have spent most of my life in the Austin area, with stops in the Bay Area, where I was born, and in Fort Collins, Colorado, where I received my Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University in 2006. Along the way, I have traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, the highlight of which was the 5 months I spent in New Zealand in 2005 as part of a Study Abroad program (Studying…right). However, I always manage somehow to return to Austin. I’ve been to a lot of places, but, for me, it doesn’t get much better than the Capital of Texas.

Growing up in the Lake Travis area allowed me to experience firsthand the natural beauty of this area. Whether it is spending the day on the Lake with friends, climbing at Reimer’s Ranch, or floating down one of the many spring-fed rivers that dot the Hill Country, one doesn’t have to look too far to enjoy everything that Austin outdoors has to offer.

Now that I am living right in the heart of the city, however, it has also allowed me to experience all over again the young, vibrant culture that makes Austin so unique. And with my job selling advertising for Austin’s coolest radio station, 107.1 KGSR, I am getting a behind-the-scenes look at the one thing that brings people from all over the world to our great city: The Music.

I have always been a music fan, and I have been lucky enough to see shows at some of the most prestigious venues in the country. Few other places, however, can combine world-class performances at venues such as The Backyard, Antone’s, and The Paramount Theatre with a club scene where you can hear anything from Jazz to Americana to Punk Rock on any given night.

So, with an emphasis on the Musical, Cultural, and Environmental beauty that we are blessed with here in Austin, I will try to offer my take on what’s happening around town. In the meantime, check out kgsr.com for some ideas. Happy Living!
